Saab: Saab doesnt start, fuel pressure regulator, change in the weather

Question
Hi Rick:I emailed you on 10/09/01 and you gave me some good help on my 86 Turbo Saab 900.
It wouldn't start and you suggested checking the sparkplug.  Originally it was a one time deal-the car wouldn't start if there was a sudden change in the weather, so it seemed.  Since I emailed you, the problem has worsened.  One day it starts, next day it doesn't.  Here in upstate NY, the weather has been very warm(for Nov.) and this morning it's 29* and it didn't start.  Originally I didn't think temp. mattered, but now it seems to be the cause.  This morning my husband checked the spark plug when it didn't start and it was in fact, dry.  Do you have any suggestions as to what needs fixing, now that we know it's not getting fuel? If it were the fuel pump, would it  start at all? It's so bizarre that it starts 4 times out of 6.  Thanks for your help!  We really appreciate it. Jan A.

Answer
So, just to confirm, you ARE getting spark? Then it's fuel, either the pump is getting weak, a control relay or switch is faulty, even the ignition switch could be the culprit! Could also be the fuel pressure regulator. First have to ascertain wether or not the fuelpump is getting power when the malfunction occurs....this may take some work. Can U acess the wiring for the pump? Let me give you some links for extra help, pardom moi if I sent these earlier...I am good at desnagging, but lack 900 experience..
