Toyota: Toyota/Borla enhanced exhaust system, toyota tacoma prerunner, 2006 toyota tacoma prerunner

Question
I just purchased a new 2006 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner Truck, V-6, automatic.  I bought it here in teh Houston area. It has what is called the  Texas Edition  package added to it, which includes (among other things) has a Borla cold air intake and exhaust system. Data on the internet states that this sytem enhances performance up to 10%.  My question is, when Toyota adds this on a truck, does it also reprogram the engine control computer to compensate for the increased air in/out?  In other words, do they add what I often see referred to as a  superchip  to enhance perfomance?  If not, this would seem a good thing for me to do. What do you think?  Thanks for your advice.

Answer
Wow..  I have to say that you totally caught me off guard with this Texas Edition.  Anyways, my first question..  All I show for the Texas Edition are the rims, JBL system, chrome rails, Borla exhaust, and 20' rims.  Nothing about a Borla cold air intake.  None the less, it's a very interesting package.  But, back to your question.  The superchip computer is a decent investment.  The Toyota's ECU should adjust for the reduced backpressure (exhaust) and the cold, denser air charge (Cold Air Intake, CAI).  "Chips" would be too expensive and at the maximum, give you better midrange power.  For that money, you should get a nice aggresive grille instead;)

You can invest in the superchip-like devices but being that you are totally stock, I don't think you'll find any real use for it.
