Toyota: Transmision Oil Leak, toyota corolla levin, compliance plate

Question
Hi again,
Corolla Model is:  AE112R - ALMDKQ
Engine is:    7A-FE
Trans/Axle is:   C52/03A (code on compliance plate)

Hope this is what you needed??
What do you suggest could be the cause of the oil leak?
Would Toyota need to take the gearbox out or apart to fix it?

Thanks again
Lisa

Question -
I have a manual 99 Model Toyota Corolla Levin. The oil leak is coming from the top of the gearbox at the back. The driveshaft seal on the left side has been replaced twice already in the last year.
I don't know if Toyota is stuffing me around? Is there anything inside the gearbox that can leak? Is there anywhere I can get a diagram of what the inside of the transmision looks like?

I know the gearbox has obviously been taken out before.
Is it possible that it didn't go back together properly?
I know there's no gasket - where the gearbox casing part joins together under the car,(that metal seam part is just metal against metal) could it be that maybe it's not sitting flat/flush against the other side [] and there's a gap somewhere that's leaking?

Any info would be great.
Thanks

Oooooo.. is that the 20V 4A-GE?  That's awesome.  Umm.. well, I want to give you a full diagram of the tranny but I can't think of the tranny code, do you think you could get it for me?  It should be on the Toyota label in the door jamb, driver's side.  S54?  No.. that's the Celica GT tranny..  I'm sorry.. I can't remember what the tranny could be..  Shoot me back a reply with the tranny code if you can and I'll send you all the info I have on the tranny.

Answer
The more I read your question, the more it sounds like someobody probably FORCED off the transmission and scratched the metal surface enough to have it leak.  In theory, the easy, simple fix should be some high-temp gasket sealant.  Other than that, maybe when bolting it up, they used the incorrect method to have it seal properly.

As far as anything leaking inside.. Well, the gears sit in gear oil so, that's what's leaking out.  The tranny is filled ABOUT half way up with gear oil.

This guy did his own C52 rebuild, so he has plenty of pics.
