Toyota: toyota camry 1997 cigarette lighter, volt ac adapter, toyota camry 1997

Question
i inserted a very tight-fitting made for car 12 volt ac-adapter into the cigarette lighter port. when i tried to remove it, i had trouble.  it was so tight fitting, the "insert" sleeve of the cigarette lighter port came out along with the plug-in ac adapter.  now my problem is that i am unable to re-insert the metal "sleeve" portion back into the hole properly, thus rendering the cigarette lighter unusable along with the portal.
how do i re-insert it?  it is much harder than i thought. i tried re-aligning, twisting and pressing in, but all to no avail. HELP!

Answer
Marcus....  I had that happen to me in my '94 Camry with a stupid air pump that I was using on my car.  Anyways, I pulled the cable and the next thing I know, I'm holding the cigarate lighter and the cable to the air pump.  Well, there's no way to stick in the hole and make it work again.  What happened is a connection in the back slips right on these two little metal "teeth" on the cig lighter.

You'll have to remove the plastic piece there to get to the wiring of the cigarate lighter.  Then, just slip the connection back on the cig lighter teeth and you'll be good to go.

Hope this helps!
