Toyota: 98 corolla misfire?, toyota dealer, engine electronics

Question
My 98 corolla (5sp, 4cyl, 174k km) which I bought used last week misfires or sputters if I try to accelerate.  Had oil change 2 days ago, this problem started yesterday.  I was driving at 100 km/h and tried to accelerate, the check engine light began to flash.  Once I stopped, the light went out after 1 minute.  If I don't accelerate quickly, the car is fine.  This seems to occur mainly at low rpms.

Answer
Hello,

Check that they put enough oil in the engine! check the oil filter too. Otherwise it could be a bad problem... check engine light comes on when there is a problem with bad burned fuel, like there is oil on it, or stuff like that. I think if the oil is ok, you could bring it to a professional toyota dealer, they can check your engine electronics to see if there is a problem.
