Toyota: 95 4Runner wheels, stock wheels, autos toyota

Question
I currently have the stock wheels on my 95' 4Runner 15x7jj 6 volts. My
question is if the stock wheels of a  97' or 98'  4Runner would fit my 95'
4Runner. They are also 15x7 with 6 volts.

Thank you,
Tomas

Answer
I can't find the exact specs for 95-98 4Runner rims.  I would ask a wheel/tire dealer what sizes are stock on what year models, especially the backspacing and whether they are 15" or 16".  I would think they would be the same, as long as the backspacing and bolt patterns are the same.  I know that 95.5 4WD Tacoma rims are identical to 98 4WD Tacoma rims.  But in 2002, they went to 16" rims on Tacoma TRD models.

I don't know which year that Toyota went to 16" rims on 4runners, but it was definitely earlier than 2002. The rims would probably fit your Runner, but your existing tires wouldn't fit the rims if they happened to be 16".  Also 16" tires are generally more expensive than 15", so watch out for that.

You might try asking this question on http://www.off-road.com on the bulletin board, or on the news://alt.autos.toyota usenet group.  There is probably somebody on there who can look it up real quick.

Thanks!
