Volkswagen: 78 super beetle ignition, fuel injection system, fuel injection

Question
Hi.  Had to do a clutch on my brother's 1978 super beetle which went well until he we went to start it.  It turned over very slow, then we let the smoke out of the ignition distributor. After cleaning all of the grounds for the engine to battery the vehicle turns over great, but obviously wont start.  I'm not sure if the wires were correctly installed on the coil and am a little nervous about turning it over with the new points until i can verify that he put the wires back correctly

Answer
Bob,

On the coil you on a 1978 you need to have the following set-up:

+  Black wire from ignition switch. (Comes in on left side of car)
+  Black wire from transmission. (Reverse lights) It has an in-line fuse on it.

- Green wire to condenser
- White wire from fuel injection system.

Let me know how you make out.
