Volkswagen: 69 Karmann Ghia transmission, autostick, standard transmission

Question
I just bought a 69 Ghia with a standard transmission, with a rebuilt 1900 Dual port.  I need to replace the transmission with an automatic (I am a paraplegic).  What is the best automatic transmission for this Ghia?

Answer
Hi Pete,

An autostick is your best option.  It is designed for the Karmann Ghia, and will allow you to drive without a clutch.

Here is a great resource for these types of cars:

You may want to consider buying a Ghia that is already equipped with the Autostick.  They appear quite often on this site:

Also, here is an autostick Ghia (1971) I found for sale:

I have an autostick beetle, and they are a lot of fun to drive!

Let me know how you make out.
