Volkswagen: 74 bus gas tank removal, tank removal, gas tank

Hi Rick,
I have a 74 bus with a 78 engine.  The gas tank needs to be cleaned or replaced, I've found ample evidence of that, but can't find any instructions on where to locate or how to remove the tank.  Perhaps is just mind numbingly obvious, but...  help?!

Bus_tank Melissa,
 It is above the engine and behind a sheet metal panel.  It is advised you remove the engine first, but you may be to squeeze the tank out with the engine in place.  Here are some pictures of a removal:
