Volkswagen: 1970 volkswagen beetle, horn cap, horn button

Question
Do you know if there is a diagram on the hook up of the horn button to the steering wheel? Or could you tell me how? It has 3 bolts, 3 plastic grommits, a brass ring and 3 springs! I think! I have tried several differant positions and the horn will either stay on or not make ground!?

Answer
Darrel,
To reassemble the entire steering wheel:
- Bring the steering wheel up to shaft.
- Feed the electrical wire trhough the 4th hole.
- Put on the large washer.
- Put on the large nut and tighten.
- Bring up the horn handle with the 3 hold down screws.
- The 3 springs go behind the horn ring on the shaft of the screws, so that the springs are squeezed between the horn ring and the wheel.
- Tighten the 3 hold down screws.
- Attach the electrical wire with it's screw.
- Snap on the horn cap

If the horn constantly beeps, the wire may be frayed as it exits the steering column.
