Volkswagen: fuel tank, vent line, old tank

Question
i just bought a recycled fuel tank for a 1975 westfalia and the old tank was for fuel injection so it has two outlets on the bottom of the tank. the new tank only has one big outles because it is for a carbuerated engine. what do i need to do with that one hole? do i need to just run one line into the carb or what?

Answer
Shane,
The second outlet is for the pressure regulator return on fuel injection only.  This can be capped for carburation application.  However, make sure there is sufficient tank venting or you may get vapor lock, because as the fuel pump draws gas the tank will become a vacuum.  This is normally done by a vent line on or near the filler neck which eventually runs to the air cleaner.  Since this is a non-standard mod, you will have to compensate for this; maybe just a vented gas cap will be ok.  Of course this will be emissions illegal; probably not an issue in most states for this year.
