Volkswagen: Cold Start Issues, intake air temp, vag com cable

Question
Hi, First of all, I want to thank you for solving my previous problem with fluctuating idle when semi-warm, by simply having a thourough intake manifold cleaning. Now here's another issue. I can start up with just one crank, but it would die immediately. So I instead must hold the gas pedal a little bit down (not too much, or it'd also die) to keep the rpm at 1500 for 10sec and everything would return to normal. Would it be the cold-start injecter or the switch?   -Willie

Answer
Was it doing this before the throttle body clean?  If not, is there any chance that the intake air temp sensor got broken during the clean.  It would be that thin wire just inside the manifold opening.  Otherwise, it's pretty hard to tell.  Do you have a diagnostic computer?  If you enjoy working on the car, I'd suggest picking up a vag-com cable on ebay.  The trial software is free and can tell you a good deal of diagnostic information.  The paid version tells you even more and lets you do a lot of parameter reprogramming.
