Volkswagen: 2001 vw passat, low oil pressure, srs system

Question
I have a 2001 vw passat with 78k miles, and all of the sudden Im getting a STOP ENGINE message on my console, saying that the oil pressure is off or something or other.  I looked at the oil levels and they are fine, and the engine light wont go off as well.  Also, my airbag light is on, i checked out the air bag and it works, but what is up with these electrical issues?  could they bad bad sensors? if so, how can i replace them without having the dealership rape me. They have already gouged me twice this year for headlights that just stopped working.   I dont trust them and would appreciate some expert advice.

Thank you
Dave from chicago

Answer
One of many problems possible.  The oil problem is from low oil pressure.  First problem could be low oil, wrong oil filter, bad oil pump, failed oil pressure sensor, or the engine has "sludged".  The airbag light could be on for many, many reasons.  Without providing me with an SRS (airbag) code... I couldn't begin to tell you what to diagnose.  Honestly, look for an independent garage and have them scan your SRS system and diagnose for you.  I'm sorry you haven't had luck with your local dealer, it seems to be a trend I'm hearing from many.
Let me know if I can help with anything else,
