Volkswagen: 1997 Passat hard starting, vw passat glx, vw passat

Question
I have a 1997 VW Passat GLX VR6 w/ 92,000k. When it is "stone" cold it starts
fine. When it is "hot" (within 10 or 15 minutes of turning off the engine) it starts
fine. If I let it sit longer than 15 minutes, after running it and warming it up, it
turns over and over for several seconds (maybe 8 or 10) before it will start. The
fuel pressure has been tested and is fine and it has a new ignition coil. Any
thoughts?

Answer
You say fuel pressure is ok, but maybe the  fuel injectors are leaking down.  To test, let the car sit for the period it is normally hard to start and pull one of the plugs, if they are fuel soaked, then either your ignition system is not up to par, or the injectors are leaking down.  I have pulled my share of fuel rails apart to find LOTS of rust/garbage particles stuck in the injectors causing them to stick open after shut off.  Let me know what you find and we'll go from there.
thanks,
