Volkswagen: starting 2004 jetta tdi after installing new battery, fuse panel, jetta tdi

Question
my battery died (only clicked 1 time and when jumped just clicked several times) in my 2004 jetta tdi. i replaced it and now the engine spins but does not start. is there some safety device or reset on this car?

Answer
Yea... sort of.  Usually I use the factory scan tool and reset the idle adaptation... however I can't say that I have ever had this problem exactly.  I would begin with checking the fuses on top of the battery and also the fuse panel.  Unless you have access to a dvom to test the glow plug igniters?  At least then you would know if they are heating the plugs.  Let me know what you have found.
thanks,
