Volkswagen: Bus wont start, fuel pressure regulator, vacuum hoses

Question
I just bought a 1979 vw Type 2 Westy. I drove it to the store came out of the store and it wouldn't start. When I turn the key it will start and run for about 1-2 seconds and then dies, when I spray starter fluid it will start until it burns it all off then it dies. I have replaced the Ignition switch, ignition coil, and the fuel pump. I don't know what else it could be. Would it be the fuel pressure regulator?

Answer
Chris,

Most likely it is 1 of 2 issues:

1) One of the many vacuum hoses has fallen off.
2) #3 Cylinder head temperature sensor

The cylinder temp sensor can be purchased at mamamotorworks.com/vw  for about 15.00

Let me know how you make out.
