Volkswagen: check engine light., garages, check engine light

Is there a way for me to reset the check engine light.  it is expensive to go to the dealer.  every time my husband performs any kind of work. the engine light goes on. also is there any way to completely disconnect this light. I know that is probably dangerous but I can't stand it anymore.

You may want to call around in your area to some local garages.   More likely than not, you will find someone who will simply reset the light for $15.00.

(providing there is not an underlying problem that keeps it from coming on).
