Volkswagen: T25 VAN, o rings, valve cover

Question
Hi, we have recently purchased a t25 2000cc van.
We have noticed oil dripping out of the heat exchanger and can't find any other leaks.
The usual rocker geskets have been replaced as well as o rings on the tubes.

Thank you

Answer
Hi Sam,

These valve cover or 'rocker gaskets' are very tempermental and love to leak over the heat exchangers.   This is 90% your problem.

Remove them and make sure both mating surfaces are absolutely shiny/clean.  Use cork gaskets, available at:

www.gowesty.com

Place a couple of dabs of silicone on the valve cover side to hold the cork gasket in place.

Coat the surface of the gasket that meets the engine with a light layer of engine oil.

Firmly slide up the cover bail.

Good Luck!
