Volkswagen: Passat Heater FanMotor, windshield washer motor, secondary windings

The heater fan motor is not working.It worked on high for awhile now not at all.I took dash apart trying to get to the controls but I don't see anything like a resistor that may have blownThe fuse isgood.Is there a relay for this.Thanks in advance.

The Passat heater blower has 2 possible culprits:

1) The switch.   I would see if you can get one from a salvage yard (depending on the year of your VW), and first try that.

2) The motor.  This sounds like the most likely cause.  The motor has primary and secondary windings, which allow it to have variable speed. (like your windshield washer motor)  It sounds like the windings simply burned out, which can happen over time.

I would suggest getting a used heater motor, instead of springing for a brand new one, as these don't readily go.  I looked online, here is a good link for used Passat parts:
