Volkswagen: 2000 VW Bug Headlight, headlight bulb, one headlight

Question
The headlight bulb burned out on my 2000 VW Bug, I went to my local NAPA parts store (figuring I'll just change the bulb ... HA!)anyway, I consulted the manual and discovered that it has to be done by the dealer  ... for $90.00! $90.00 to change a headlight!?

So, how do I go about doing it myself? Without taking half (or all) of the engine apart to gain access to the head lamp.

The dealer said (take it for what it's worth) that you need a "special tool" (imagine THAT!)to remove the headlight assembly from the front of the vehicle.

I am amazed! All this just to change one !#@%*#! headlight!?   Thanks, Robert

Answer
Unfortunately, VW does have a tool that allows them to take the light out.

Also, if you get oil or anything from your finger, or dirt on it.

It will burn out.

Where do you live, perhaps I can recommend a reasonable VW place, other than the dealer.
