Volkswagen: 2000 Jetta Power Steering Tank, synthetic hydraulic fluid, power steering fluid

Where is the power steering tank on my 2000 jetta (2.8 vr6 model)?! And do I need to use a specific power steering fluid? My owner's manual tells me nothing.

Yes, you must use a special power steering fluid.

It is called: Pentosin CHF 11S Synthetic Hydraulic Fluid - This synthetic fluid is correct for many later models which specify synthetic fluid. Here is the website where you can find it: (just copy and paste into your browser)

If I'm not mistaken, your power steering reservoir should be located right next to your battery.  You can follow the hose from the power steering pump right to the reservoir.
