Volkswagen: Removing interior door trim VW JETTA 1998, interior door panel, head screws

Question
I CAN'T FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT HOW TO ROMOVE DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL/TRIM TO INVESTIGATE WHY MY DAUGHTER'S ELECTRIC WINDOW  WON'T GO ALL THE WAY UP, AND JUST SORT OF WORKS OCCASIONALLY ( JAMMED UP MAYBE ? ).I HAVE AN ILLUSTRATION OF IT,BUT I SUPPOSE TOO STUPID TO FIGURE OUT. THANK YOU

Answer
you will need to remove the outter part of the handle on a rear door, or a small bit of the trim on a front door. I assume it's a rear though, so gently prize the outter trim off the door handle working from the bottom to the top. behind this trim there should be a few large pozi head screws, remove them. check under the bottom edge to see if there any T20/T25 head screws, if so remove them. then the door panel should be levered off from the bottom working upwards (to diss-engage the clips). this should leave it attached on the top edge near the window, lift the door panel upwards to remove it from it's channel. then unplug all wires and remove inner door handle pull cable. behind the panel there should be a large metal plate, you will need to remove the rubber grommit from the bottom end, move the window until you can see and get to the plastic securing lugs (one inside another) and carefully tap them into the door using a punch or suitable screw driver. then on the door, near the door latch, remove a small plastic cap and carefully unscrew the multi spline stud (can us a T20 screw driver), whilst doing this gently pull the small plastic housing from behind the outter door handle. this should pull out, once this is removed do not move the securing screw any further or it will allow a "c" shaped clip to fall out!. then you will see a plastic lug going into the door handle with a wire on it (make a note of it's position and make sure it goes back where it was or you will not be able to open the door from inside or out) flick it out of handle. you then need to lift the glass to the top of it's guides and secure it up with strong tape. then remove the two M8 spline bolts from above / below door catch. you are now finally ready to unscrew the numerous 10mm head bolts around the earlier mentioned plate. to remove the plate, lift it upwards, pull the lower edge away from the door. then allow it to drop down and pull it into the car slightly to allow the lock to come clear of the door. ( you may need to remove the wiring from speaker and the steel plate before it will come completely out. (the window mechanism's tend to break as the part which carries the glass and attaches to the cables is made od plastic) i wish you luck if you attempt this, and completely understand if you do not attempt it. it is quite difficult to do for the first time, i just advise you to be carefull and you should be fine. (assemble in reverse order and place the larger of the two securing pins into position before installing the smaller one in the bottom of the glass)
