Volkswagen: VW Battery Replacement, vw beetle, radio book

I have to replace a battery in a 1999 VW Beetle. With all the electronics in today's cars, is this something that is going to mess up the computer. or is it as simple as replacing with a new battery?

the only problem you may encounter is the radio code ( if the genuine vw radio is fitted ). you should have a piece of card about the size of a credit card with the 4 digit code on it, and this would originally be in the radio book, and the coding process should also be in there. sometimes the radio can obtain it's code from the car, it will come up "safe" and "1000" if the code is needed or "learn" if it obtains it's own code. as for other elecronics they should be fine.
