have no problem starting cold or running when cold

Answer
If your rabbit has an O2 sensor, read on.    If not, see bottom (Water temp sensor)

Did you replace the Oxygen sensor?    These sypmtoms are to the book of non-diesel rabbits - indicating a faulty O2 sensor.

I'm guessing they are around 50 dollars or so.  I would highly suggest starting there.   (you may be able to check the existing one by finding out the Ohm specifications from a shop manual - however, I'm not 100%.

If it hasn't been replaced in a long time,  you have high milage, and considering it is 25 years old, you may want to put one in just for good measure.

Also, check the water temperature sensor.  This can be done with a household volt ohm meter.   It should be around 3 ohms hot.  If not,  that needs to be replaced as well.

Hope the advice helps, and keep me posted!
