Volkswagen: 1997 volkswagon jetta trek, wheel bearing, ity

Question
I have a roaring sound when I drive my car. I have changed my tires and the sound is still there. The sound stop when I stop the car, but when I go around a sharp curve it stops.  What can it be?

Answer
ity sounds as though you may have a noisy wheel bearing or possibly even a noisy differential bearing. before going to a workshop, it may be an idea to jack up one wheel at a time and spin the wheel. if you hear a rumbling noise then that is probably the defective bearing. if you have noticed it goes quite going around a bend, check that side bearing first. ie, noise goes turning left - check left hand bearings first and vice versa. if you do not find any noisy bearing's then im afraid a trip to your local garage will be necesary.
