Volkswagen: performance air filter kit install 98 Jetta 2.0 NON Turbo, performance air filter, intake air temp

Question
I ordered an after market air intake kit on ebay that came with no instruction. I can get the bracket and filter on (barely). It also came with a small filter that I assume is for the PCV Hose. But there is a 1 1/2" - 2" hose that runs from the factory air filter housing to the exhaust manifold.
What do I do with this hose once the factory housing is removed?
There is also a vacuum line that runs from the factory air filter housing to the intake manifold in front of the IAT Sensor. What would i do with this line?

Answer
the hose from the air box to the exhaust manifold is a warm air pick up ( for cold running conditons ) this should be aimed and fixed to close to the k+n filter. note you may experience a slight difference in cold running caracteristics, but it is a trade off between that and the extra power. the vacuum pipe is to work the valve for the warm air pick up and should therefore be blocked off. the IAT sensor should be removed from the air box and attached close to the filter again so the ecu can still get an approximate idea of intake air temp. hope this helps. john dempsey.
