Volkswagen: 96 vw polo diesel wont start!, vw garage, auto electrician

Question
I've had a new starter engine put in, run a diagnostic check on it
at the local vw garage giving it the all clear - but still have
problems starting up in the mornings, and its only going to get
colder....!

To be honest its never 'felt' or sounded good when starting up.
Its done 96,000 miles but once going is very reliable.

Would you recommend I take it to an auto electrician?

Any ideas?

Answer
Very common problem for these cars to give problems with glow plugs, any dealer or back street garage will be able to check these very quicly and shouldnt charge, 99 % chance of these, the only other thing is if you have tried these is the temp sensor on the block as it will not be telling the ecu on the car that the car is cold and hence puts on no choke
