Volvo: 2001 s40 flame trap, flame trap, older cars

Question
I was advised by my mechanic that I have a front engine seal leak in my 2001 s40. A second mechanic advised me to clean the flame trap and that might resolve my leak with a much smaller price tag. Where can I find the flame trap? And will this advise work?

Answer
Matt,
Ther is not a flame trap like the older cars. There is a breather box under the intake where the valve in it fails or is clogged. That maybe the reason ther is too much pressure in the crankcase. Volvo has a pressure gauage that you can take a reading to see if it is clogged. The whole job is a few hours work.
