Volvo: 1987 volvo will not start, fuse one, volvo 760

Question
hi i have a 1987 volvo 760 turbo and the other night I was driving in the rain and I hit a puddle. The car died about 2 minutes after that I checked the cap to see if it had gotten wet, it didn't so I closed the hood and then the car started right up I let it sit for 15 minutes running and then proceeded, got about 2 miles down the road and happened to hit another and the car shutoff again. I did the same exact thing as the first time and the car started right back up again. It only ran for about 2 minutes and then shut off. I tried for about a half an hour and the only thing the car would do after that was start real quick and then shut off right away. Now only have of the fuses have power, the fuse number 11 which is something with the fuel pump has no power, but fuse one is the main fuel pump and that has power. Checked the pump in the tank and that has no power. I've been going crazy the last couple of days trying to figure it out. If you could help me that would be great because before this had happened the car ran amazing and it's weird how all of a sudden the thing would lose the power and now just about nothing works. Please give me some ideas I have a book on it and it's not helping me out that much I just want to be able to drive my volvo again, thanks, Fred

Answer
Fred,
So the in tank pump looses power is that correct? When you check that fuse crank the engine that should power up that fuse. But that does not mean the pump is running. Maybe the hose at the pre pump is broken or the pump has failed and it is running out of gas. If other electrical things are not working do you have a bad electrical switch? Wiggle the key to see if things begin to work.
