Volvo: 1981 volvo, older cars, timing belt

i have bougth a 1981 bertone volvo and would like to know if the engine has a timing belt or chain.also any weak points of the engine.any information you could give me on the engine would be good.thank you wayne

What is the engine in your car? Most older Bertones had a V6 and that is a chain driven engine. Weak points is that parts are very difficult or impossible to get. Volvo has stopped handling a lot of the parts for the older cars. Not much in the aftermarket made for them.
