Volvo: air intake, climate system, scan tool

hello again from greece.
My car is a 2002 s40 and my question is which parts should i remove, to check if the the button which controls the outcoming or the recycling air really works.Even if i press the button to prevent the air from outside come into the cabin, nothing happens. air keeps flowing!!

This is for the climate system, yes? The recerc motor on many of the cars has been going bad. Using the Volvo scan tool you can try a reprogramming. If the motor will not even move, then the motor itself needs replacement and programming. If you just replace the motor and not reprogram it it may not run to it's stops open and/or closed.
