Volvo: volvo 240 manual sunroof, volvo 240, crank

I have a 91 240 DL 4 door, and has been an excellent car for us with the current exception of a sunroof sticking open.
It closes up until the last 2" and doesn't close completely.
Would love to drive it this winter or in the rain, but we're unable to.
Please advise and I look forward to your expert opinion.

Mike,
Most time the gear gets out of time. So it was possibly loose (the gear that is attached to the crank) and has slipped and it gets to it end position before the roof closes. Try this close the roof until it hits the stop, remove the gear turn it back a few turns put it back close the roof more. When it is closed remove the gear and turn it to the stop put it back into place.
