Volvo: Volvo Wont Start, volvo 240 gl, 1992 volvo 240

Question
I have a 1992 Volvo 240 GL. the car will not start at all without a jump start. it has a new battery. when it starts with the jump, if you turn it off and try turning it on again, it will not start. the alternator was replaced not to long ago and same with the starter. Any idea?

Answer
Frank,
If the battery is good and the alt is charging, you must have problems in the cables. Clean the cables and follow them making sure that there is no damage and they are tight both ends. It would not hurt to double check the battery that is in the car, maybe it is defective. Or is the problem you must crack the engine so much you wear down the installed battery and the jump allows you to continue to crank it more?  Are you getting suffecient fuel pressure, and spark? If in doubt tow it to a shop that knows the Volvo's and get their advice. They can test the fuel/ignition system and the battery/starter/alt to see how much power it has.
