Volvo: check engine light, 2000 volvo s70, volvo s70

Hello! I just purchased a 2000 Volvo S70 and was having trouble getting the key to go in & out of ignition, so I guy I purchased it from did something to the gear shift & the problem was solved. But when I got home cut the car off & started it the next day the check engine light is on. Did he disturb the sensor or something?

Well something set the light to come on, however without knowing what the codes are too hard to tell. Go to a Volvo shop that has the right type of scan tool and have them read the fault codes and clear them, drive the car and see if the light returns. Deal with any faults then if the light returns.
