Volvo: question about volvo s80 timing setting, volvo s80, variable valve timing

Question
i have an s80 volvo i changed the bent valves and engine refused starting . Please help me by showing me how to set the timing

Answer
Simeon,
There are markings on the pulleys for timing, with the exception possibly of the VVT (variable valve timing) gear. Sometimes when you put a new one on and set it up you make the mark. There are special tools to hold the cams and a pin to lock the crank, you then place the belt on and over the intake gear, that is loose on the cam, line up the mark from the pulley to the cover snug up the gear bolts, over the exhaust cam again lining up the mark to the cover and lock that gear. Place the remaining belt over the tensioner and water pump, set the tensioner and with a wrench turn over the engine and make sure the markings are lined up and reset the belt tensioner. I know this is a lot and very hard to understand, can you order a book or talk to a tech at a Volvo shop for more assistance? Try all-data pro.com All the procedures that I ever saw are confusing.
