Volvo: Brake light fault, volvo 850 tdi, volvo 850

Hi Ray,I've a 1996 volvo 850 tdi estate.One morning got up to find the battery flat, i know the battery was good as it's 4 days old.A friend told me my brake lights were flickering on and off whilst driving, that evening the battery went flat.I recently had my hand brake adjusted and a diagnotic done but the fault returned.I parked the car up today and noticed the brake lights stayed even after the engine was turne off,till i flicked the brake pedal a couple of times.Can you help please.

What you describe sounds like the brake lights remain on and the battery goes dead because of that. So you need to see if the switch needs adjusting or replacement. Pull out the center of the switch the white plastic piece while pushing the down the pedal, then allow the pedal to push back the button and white plastic piece, that will adjust it. If still not working try s replacement switch.
