Volvo: 1992 volvo 240, vacuum leaks, 1992 volvo 240

Question
Ray, I have a 240 that hesitates when you accelerate and it sometimes shuts off when you put it in reverse. I just replace plug wires, distributor cap and rotor as it wouldn't start when damp or raining outside. Now it starts okay, but this problem developed. Thank you!

Answer
Gary,
Is the fuel pressure correct? About 42 psi. The fuel filter clean? In tank pump working and producing about 4 psi? Remove and clean the throttle housing removing all the carbon deposits. Make sure that the throttle switch clicks just as it comes off idle. Is the hose from the air filter to the throttle hosuing broken? Test for vacuum leaks. The brake booster also uses vacuum to operate, so it could also leak.
