Hi,My tempeture drops all the way down in a cold weather as soon as I hit the highway,stays in middle range in city driving

Is the heat hot? The coolant level correct? Leaks? Test for leakage and level, if that is all correct run the car and using a temp gun see what the temp is at the t/stat housing. If it is not in the 180 to 190 degree range start with a new t/stat.
