Just found out tonight the AWD is not working at the same time the key won't release from the ignition... was told it could be the transmission.  Is this possible and if so what kind of repair cost am I facing... just bought teh car and no issues were found at inspection

You will need the help of someone that knows the Volvo to look at the trans and final drive to verify what went wrong. If the key will no not come out the shifter may not be shifting all the way to park due to mis adjusted cable, sticky release on shift handle, lock assembly etc. The trans replacements could run in the area of $4000.00, depending what is found wrong. The key if the lock assemble is bad a few hundred.
