Volvo: Volvo S80 96000 service, cambelt change, volvo s80

Question
My Volvo S80 2.4 170 bhp petrol will shortly be due for a 96,000 mile service when a cambelt change is due. I was also told at the last service that it may need rear pads and discs too. How much is this service likely to cost at either a main dealer or an independent? It will also need 4 new tyres soon and I'm trying to decide whether to keep or swap it. I've had it from new and it's been an excellent car.

Answer
Peter,
When I do a timing belt I alway also replace the belts idler pulley, the tensioner pulley, and the water pump. That is because they are driven by the T/belt and if any of those give out that might cause the belt to come off or break. That would be major engine work. That is at a cost U.S. of $700.00 to $750.00. Rear brakes $325.00. Tires about $130.00 each.
