Volvo: 95 Volvo 960 Flashing Arrow, volvo 960, winter mode

The Winter mode arrow and the "W" and "E" lights at the automatic gear shift lever are flashing.  Car runs fine when cold but goes into safe mode/3rd gear when hot.  No PNP 313 trouble code but back-up lights don't work (PNP anyway?).  One code is "gear #3 incorrect ratio".  Can't track down the meaning of these fault codes: 414, 625.  Can you tell me what these codes mean?

If the reverse lights do not operate, the bulbs are good and the bulb out relay is also good it would be the PNP switch. The fault codes that you provide are not valad codes, not listed. Have someone with the Volvo scan tool read the codes, maybe just a glitch in the system.
I alway read the codes record and erace then drive the car to see what if any codes return. There have been many problems repaired with
a new PNP switch.
