Volvo: 1999 v70 Died in traffic, will not turn over, engine cranks, imobilizer

Question
My daughter was driving the car around the school parking lot and she went to drive around the school to another parking lot when the car stopped on her in the middle of the street. She had some friends push it in the student parking lot and it is there right now. I have checked the battery and, serpentine belt, basic connections and now I am about to get an OBII scanner to check it out.

When you try to start the car the car lights and everything will come on and the car starter tries to turn the engine over, but the engine will not catch. On the dashboard the ETS, battery and check engine lights come on and stay on event though the car will not urn over.

I was reading that it may be an "imobilizer" or an ECM or some other electrical issue. If you have an idea as to what it may be I would appreciate the help.

Answer
Lance,
The engine cranks but will not start. Or is the starter not able to crank over the engine? Does it have fuel and spark? Could the timing belt have broken? Is the engine out of oil and locked up?
What codes are present? Have you tested the battery? Is there enought power in the battery? You have to do your diagnostic work and look for faults.
