Volvo: 960 blinking arrow, poor connections, speed sensor

I have 1 1995 960 and the car will go into low gear (sometimes) on start from full stop.  I get the orange blinking arrow and codes 232 and 235 - speed sensor and oil temp high.  Should I replace the speed sensor - could that cause the low gear and hot fluid temp?  I read that the connectors to the tranny - the two black connectors might need to be reset and cleaned.  Thanks.

If there is corrosion on any of the connectors I would clean them and reset the codes then try the vehicle to see what codes came back. The problem could be just as simple as poor connections and as major as a bad trans. Start at the connectors clean and then clear the codes.
