Volvo: gear box slipping and not selecting all the time., speed signal, instrument cluster

Hi Ray just bought a 850 se 1996 from auction. the dash instruments are not working checked fuses ok plus the transmission is having slipping and selecting problems i was told this could be linked to the speedo not working.

If the speedo is not working then no speed signal is available to the instrument cluster and the trans. Look for codes in the ABS. That control unit has had many problems. If the code(s) will not erace and come back replace the control unit. Your speed signal might stop at the defective ABS control unit.
