Volvo: Headlight Switch for 82 GLT, volvo glt, dash board

Question
I have a 1982 volvo GLT and the headlight switch stopped working last night. Usually every time I turn the switch, there is a click feeling. Now when I turn it there is no click feeling and the switch turns freely in either direction. Although if I push the switch towards the dashboard while the switch is in the on position for the headlights, the lights and dash board lights come on. So I am assuming something is loose or came un-done? How do I go about fixing this?

Answer
Jordan,
Sounds as of you need a new switch. Pull the knob off the two switches then the plastic panel. Reaching up from under the dash loosen the nut that holds the switch pull it down and unplug it and plug in the new one. Sometimes the wires and connector become slightly burned and melted, then you need to preform some surgery, and maybe splice in new wires and connector.
