Volvo: 94 850 wont start, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
My 1994 850 doesn't turn over -- when I turn the key I can hear it gasping. Electrics turn on and it has 6 gallons of fuel. The engine was replaced about 6 months ago and since then my check engine light has been coming on (the service center said it's for the mass air flow sensor). The air pump fuse was blown, so I replaced it, but nothing changed. The car started fine three days ago. Any ideas?
