Volvo: Volvo Air Conditioner, magnetic coil, temp sensor

Question
We have a 1999 S-70 Volvo and the air conditioner stops running after 1/2 hour. You can turn it off and wait and then turn it on and it works. What do you believe is the problem?

Answer
Norm,
Sometimes the temp sensor in the compressor gets too hot and turns off the compressor, a safety feature. You can try to by pass it to verify. Some have an A/C clutch that has too much gap and the magnetic coil can not pull it in. Above say 15 thousand's is too much.
