Volvo: Trunk/Fuel Gauge/Brake Pedal Connection?, power trunk release, fuel gauge

Question
Okay, so I'm starting to think that my Volvo doesn't actually have electrical issues and its just possessed!  When I press the brake pedal, the fuel gauge cuts out and plummets to empty and occasionally the trunk lid opens.  I am assuming that these are all wired in a cluster somewhere in the trunk and I may have connection issues.  Any light you could shed on this would be greatly appreciated!

Answer
Martyn,
You need someone to look at the car when these things are happening. Find a shop that knows the Volvo and see if they can help. I am hard pressed to answer any futher since I do not know what year and model  car you have. I have not seen any issue as you have in another car as of yet and I have worked on Volvo's for 30 plus years.
I do not think there are any wiring truck to fuel gauge unless some wires are damaged and shorting out. Your car has a power trunk release? On the older cars there is a button in the glove box, maybe wires are shorting as the car leans forward in a stop. Is the trunk not locking and during a stop flip open?
