Question
Hi there...this is my first time using this site so please go easy on me :-)

I have a few questions relating to my C70:

1. Took it to my local dealer after the Check Engine light came on and was told it was a 'Boost Pressure Valve' so had that replaced. When idle, the car is 'hunting' and revving quite high and recently I have lost the power in my car I used to get when I put my foot down on the gas. I have a feeling it has always been the MAF...any suggestions? I don't want to go to my dealer again for them to mis-diagnose the problem.

2. I recently lost control of my car and hit a kerb quite hard resulting in having to replace the NSF wishbone, strut,  anti-roll bar and part of the steering rack. Went to get the tracking etc. done and was told that the camber was out by 1.26 degrees on the NSF. The subframe/chassis shows no signs of impact at all. Any ideas what can be done about this as my car is pulling quite hard to the left?

3. I don't know if it as a result of the knock the car has taken but I am having real trouble getting my key in and out of the ignition each time I use the car. The steering lock doesn't seem to want to work and the standard Volvo alarm is only working temperamentally as and when it wants to. I have no idea why all this is happening??

4. I have had an ongoing problem with the NSF door. It seems like it may have dropped a little. As a result, the interior door light in the footwell stays on not allowing me to set the alarm fully or comes on during the night and sets the alarm off. Any ideas why?

I would really appreciate some advice/suggestions.

Thank you in advance :-)

Answer
Andre,
If you do not want the dealer to work on your car, you must find someone/someplace that has the proper tools and scanner to work on your car, a shop that works on Volvo's as they are familiar with the vehicle.
Could the MAF be bad, yes that is a common repair. That should be easy enough to replace yourself. However as for reading and clearing codes that may present a problem. Some vehicles also require a download of new software to stop the hunting and idle problems.
For the alignment the shop that worked on the car should be able to find the area that is bent. The frame might need some pulling or straightening. Maybe a frame shop would be a better place to check the alignment. What I am saying if the readings are so far off something is bent, may not easily be seen, however.
There have been many problems with the ignition lock assembly. Go and have that replaced before the lock stops working. Not sure about any alarm problems, maybe read the codes and monitor the operation to get an idea what is going on.
Have the door adjusted so it will close properly. That would be the first operation that will need to be done.
