Volvo: engine cuts off Volvo 940 turbo, fuel pressure gauge, fuel pump relay

Question
Hi Ray,  I own a 1994 940 turbo, I love this car.  In the last year it has without
any warning just cut off while driving.  Fortunately it was only scarry once.  I
starts back up, earlier it started up immediately now it takes a few tries.  I
have taken this problem to a trusted mechanic and he could not find or
replicate the problem.  It usually happens when slowing to a stop and in
street traffic.  It did happen once on a highway.  It has happened with and
without the ac on.  The car has 137k miles and I take good care of it.  Any
ideas?  THANKS Jeff

Answer
Jeff,
You need to have a fuel pressure gauge on the car and someway to test to see that the injectors are working. Once you have knowlege of what you are losing then replace as needed the parts. Feed pump may not work, fuel pump relay shuts off the main and feed pump, injector suppression relay shutting off pulse to injectors, MAF meter going bad. Read any codes and make the needed reapairs to begin.
